About us

Private Practice Therapist or Social Worker - LSW, LCSW, LPC, LCPC, etc
AMK Counseling is hiring a licensed therapist to join our Ravenswood or Lincoln Park team in Chicago, IL. We are looking for someone with 2-5 years post graduate school clinical experience. **Community mental health and/or child welfare backgrounds strongly encouraged to apply.**

Since 2011 AMK Counseling has provided counseling services to kids, teens, adults, and families. AMK values professional growth and we have monthly training opportunities for CEs, group consultation and 1:1 supervision. We have a warm environment that encourages growth and connection.

AMK also has a commitment to giving back to the community by offering scholarship/sliding scale slots to clients from historically marginalized groups through our community partnership programs.

Candidates must have a masters degree and must be licensed (LSW, LCSW, LPC, LCPC, etc). Experience in behavioral intervention and play therapy is a plus. 2-5 years of post graduate school experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of 20-25 clients a week- Providing counseling to children, teen, adult, and family clients.
  • Must be willing to work some evenings.
  • Complete client notes within 24 hours
  • Coordinate with collaterals when needed
  • Attend weekly consultation and seek additional consultation as needed
  • Must maintain their professional license
  • Strong communication skills and able to talk to people
  • Strong active listening skills
  • Knowledge of a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques (CBT, ACT, DBT, ERP, etc)
  • Ability to develop individualized treatment plans and conduct assessments.Ability to maintain accurate and timely client records.Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
  • Empathy and a non-judgmental attitude.Emotional resilience and the ability to manage stress.Strong ethical standards and confidentiality practices.Open-mindedness and a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.Comfort with teletherapy platforms (if applicable).Familiarity with mental health software tools for assessments and documentation.
  • Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and treatment modalities.Ability to provide crisis intervention and manage high-risk situations.Understanding of legal and ethical guidelines in the practice of therapy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing education and training to maintain licensure and stay current with therapeutic trends and techniques.
  • Must be able to get on the ground to play with clients who are children
  • Must be able to lift at least ten pounds
  • Must be able to meet in-person with clients

Compensation is extremely competitive. Compensation is determined by experience and training.
