Working Hours/Shift:

Mon - Fri: 8 AM - 5 PM

What you bring to SBHG :

  • SC I: High School diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED, HiSET, etc.) required.

  • SC II: Associates degree in a Mental Health, Human Services or closely related field.

  • SC III: Bachelor’s degree in Mental Health, Human Services, or closely related field.

  • SC I: Three (3) years experience with severely emotionally disturbed children and families.

  • SC II: Two (2) years of experience with severely emotionally disturbed children and families.

  • SC III: One (1) year experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children and/or families.

  • Valid California Driver’s License.

How you will make a difference:

The Support Counselor (SC) takes a lead role and responsibility for working with children, youth, their families, and adults to provide support, education, and advocacy to successfully navigate systems. The SC ensures all team members are active participants in the planning and linkage process. The Support Counselor will focus on a broad range of targeted case management and rehabilitative services meant to provide stabilization and successful reduction of involuntary hospitalization and placement disruption.


Division/Program Overview:

  • Community-Based and Family Centered programs.

  • TEAMMATES offers Wraparound, Intensive Field Capable Clinical Services (IFCCS) and IFCCS Outreach Triage Team and Child Outreach Triage Team services that cover a full range of treatment and support.

  • 24 hours of referral receipt, and services are delivered countywide by the same team

  • 24-hour Crisis Intervention

  • SED Children and Adolescent driven program.

  • Client and Family driven program with mutually agreed by service provider and family.

  • Contract with DMH and Child Protected Services and Probation.

In accordance with California law, the grade for this position is 22.78 - 36.46. Placement within the grade is determined based on experience, internal equity, and other factors permitted by law.
