Job Summary
In this position, the Social Worker is assigned to provide coverage to the Adolescent and Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Units across the Upstate Campus. The Social Worker will serve as a float social worker to assist with staff vacancies, leaves, unexpected absences and help to provide coverage for uncovered units. This position has the potential of supporting patients on medical units with mental health needs and has the potential to assist with discharge planning. The Social Worker provides comprehensive psycho-social assessment, intervention, management, support, and assess for discharge planning and aftercare needs of the at-risk patient population and their families. In addition, the Social Worker addresses social determinants of health and works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team. Other assigned duties and tasks based upon operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications
M.S.W from a Social Work program accredited by the Council on Social Work (CSWE); M.S.W., L.M.S.W., L.C.S.W. or eligible, 3 years relevant post-master's experience (preferably in a hospital and/or healthcare environment) required. New M.S.W. graduates who are L.M.S.W. eligible will be considered for appointment to entry-level (SL2) positions at a commensurate salary after obtaining a Limited Permit. Incumbent must obtain L.M.S.W. within 12 months of receipt of the limited permit.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous knowledge and experience with the psychiatric population, suicide interventions, and OMH regulations.
Work Days
Monday-Fridays, days with occasional on-call/holiday coverage on rotation based on operational needs
