Overview
The Patient Care Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless experience for patients within a healthcare setting. This position involves managing patient interactions, coordinating appointments, and providing administrative support to enhance patient care. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a background in medical or dental office environments.
Duties
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, addressing inquiries and providing information regarding services.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
- Assist with insurance verification and processing, including obtaining necessary authorizations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate effective communication regarding patient needs and treatment plans.
- Manage office supplies and equipment, ensuring a well-organized work environment.
- Support the administrative team with various tasks as needed to enhance overall office efficiency.
- Must be proficient in Dentrix.
- Have 2 to 3 years front desk experience.
- Be able to function at the front desk independently. There will be little or no assistance in this position. There will be minimal training and candidate will be expected to function independently on the first day.
- This is not a learning position.
- Must be able to have clinical knowledge of dental procedures and be able to explain them to patients and present a treatment plan knowledgably.
- Be competent in all insurances including Medicare and OHP.
- Know how use a scanner/fax/copier and be familiar with Dental Intelligence.
- Be able to update patient's medical histories and perform medical clearances with physician offices.
- Be able to do insurance verifications, frequency of treatment and exclusions.
- Be able to perform collections, billing and statements which are computerized.
- Skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Experience in a medical office or dental office setting is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and professionalism when interacting with patients.
- Familiarity with medical administrative support functions, including appointment scheduling and record management.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while maintaining a focus on patient care.
