The Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) provides alcoholism and substance abuse counseling services in approved work settings. The CASAC provides comprehensive assessment services to clients who may have substance abuse barriers to employment by applying clinical judgment to determine appropriate treatment needs and levels of care. This includes performing diagnostic assessment, evaluation, intervention, referral and alcoholism and/or substance abuse counseling in both individual and group settings. This is an 1199 Union Position. Pay rate is $31.97/hour.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide integrated care services to the client population at the ACDP clinic as indicated by the OASAS, CCBHC expansion scope of practice.
  • Provide clients with services in the field as required.
  • Participate in grant-related workshops and trainings.
  • Use the grant portals; SPARS to enter any grant-required data in terms of service provision, clinical indicators.
  • Develop and conduct group, individual and family counseling on a scheduled basis to caseload clients.
  • Obtain weekly random urine samples according to established protocol.
  • Orient clients about program goals, objectives, rules and regulations, client obligations, client rights, and program operation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of group work management techniques and use those techniques appropriately.
  • Demonstrate appropriate treatment planning and clinical intervention.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate documentation.
  • Provide education and information to the client about alcohol and drug abuse.
  • Maintain and update referral services and resources that may be useful to our client population; make referrals when necessary and appropriate.
  • Prepare legal monthly reports monthly or as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma required. Associate/Bachelor Degree preferred.
  • Valid NYS OASAS CASAC certification.
  • 3+ years experience in OASAS program.
  • Bilingual-Spanish preferred.
  • Strong leadership, excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a strong team of professionals in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Ability to multitask and work/function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hybrid schedules are available.
