Crisis Support Service:
Crisis Support Services is a mobile crisis team that provides crisis prevention and intervention counseling to individuals who have developmental disabilities. Teams of counselors are available to take calls to diffuse a situation or go to a crisis site to intervene & prevent a crisis. The teams provide training and on site secondary support to all direct support personnel and act as the liaison for the Regional Center Service Coordinators. Safety of all individuals is the primary concern; the Crisis Support Service Teams are always available and ready to respond.
Position Available: Senior Counselor
We are currently seeking a full time individual to work on our Crisis Prevention Team whose objective is to diffuse a crisis situation in effort to avoid further escalation. This in the field position will interface with professional providers, family members and individuals who have developmental disabilities. The position requires effective listening and emotion-situation interpretation skills, knowledge of crisis prevention counseling techniques (training will be provided), documentation/reporting skills and the ability and willingness to work in a rapid response team-oriented environment.
Target Population:
The target population for this service is composed of individuals with developmental disabilities who are referred by the Regional Center. Many of our consumers may have behavioral issues that are displayed in such a way as to create a crisis. These crises may appear, but are not limited to the following: Harm to Self, Harm to Others, Elopement, Property Damage, and any form of Uncontrollable Behavior which could lead to loss of placement or services.
Available Shift: Monday - Friday 10:00am - 6:30pm with a rotation of weekly on-call

- Avoid Hospitalization and Police Involvement
- Assist with Hospitalization and Police Involvement when necessary
- Prioritize Crises based upon Severity and Available Resources (An urgent call may result in termination of another call/appointment)
Qualifications:
- Preferred Experience: 2-4 years in related support organizations (Group Homes, Adult Residential Facility, Hospitals, Developmental Centers, Education Institutions, Crisis Intervention Services)
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Special Education, Psychology or Related Field
- Driver's Record and Background Check: Clear of all infractions
- Spanish Speaking a plus
- Preferred Skills: Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Excel
- ABA experience a plus
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of characteristics and social aspects of mental and developmental disabilities
Knowledge of principles, procedures and techniques used in planning, evaluating and administering an individual's treatment plan
Ability to evaluate the interpersonal characteristics and demeanor of individuals or groups in order to respond appropriately to a variety of personalities and situations
Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication, leadership, problem solving, and analytical skills
Ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports, correspondence, and other job-related documents for various audiences
Skill to work effectively under pressure
Ability to acquire and apply new knowledge or skills for work
Driving Requirements
- Valid drivers license
- Proof of motor vehicle insurance
- Driving Record in good standing
- No major violations in the past three years.
- No more than two moving violations in the past three years
- Ability to meet and maintain agency driving requirements and operate agency vehicles
