Salary: $50,678 - $71,564, commensurate with experience, and includes consideration of conferred degrees and relevant graduate-level credits, with salary adjustments made in accordance with the applicable salary schedule.

Location/Hours: Southern Adirondack Education Center, Hudson Falls; Monday-Friday (8:00AM-2:45PM)

The ELD Skills Room School Counselor coordinates and provides behavioral interventions within the Exceptional Learners program. The candidate will support de-escalation and social skills instruction allowing students to experience success in the Exceptional Learners Division.

  • Support students' emotional regulation through the use of de-escalation techniques inline with Therapeutic Crisis Intervention in Schools and BoysTown Specialized Classroom Management

  • Process student behavioral referrals according to BoysTown Specialized Classroom Management and BOCES policy & regulations

  • Oversee the functioning of the skills room, including providing direction to skills room staff on responses to calls for student behavior support, social skills instruction as part of the referral process, and student consequences as part of the school-wide motivation system

  • Document skills referrals and behavior interventions in the student management system and other forms as required by BOCES policy; ensure timely entry and accuracy of information; follow-up with staff regarding documentation

  • Communicate with building administrators in a timely manner about student behavior

  • Communicate with teams with updates regarding student behavior, including student progress, successful approaches for supporting student behavior, and referral consequences

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to develop and implement support plans for students through the MTSSi process

  • Support the coordination and completion of threat assessments at the direction of the Principal; support the development and implementation of any subsequent safety plans and communicate with parents, outside providers, and team members as directed

  • Any other such duties may be delegated by the program administrators and may be necessary to perform the functions of the position.
