General Description:


As the Student Community Liaison, you will serve as the pivotal link between students, families, schools, and the broader community, orchestrating efforts to bolster attendance, elevate student achievement, and fortify overall school success. Operating with autonomy, you will forge robust alliances with school personnel, parents, and community stakeholders, strategizing and executing initiatives to nurture a supportive and engaging educational environment. Your role encompasses identifying and addressing students' multifaceted needs, from social services to academic support, while fostering a culture of attendance excellence. Through proactive engagement, resource facilitation, and targeted interventions, you will champion the holistic well-being and academic advancement of every student, ensuring equitable access to opportunities for success.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, social science, education, or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with education, health and human services, juvenile justice, and family support services
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and proof of vehicle liability insurance required

Experience Requirements:

  • Three or more years’ experience in working with schools, families, and children
  • Basic computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, multitask, problem-solve creatively, and function effectively within a team

Essential Performance Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate strong working relationships with school staff, parents, and community partners
  • Establish resources for the school community including planning, scheduling, and hosting community events
  • Identify students' social service, educational, vocational, and cultural needs and educate campus staff accordingly
  • Provide appropriate referrals for at-risk students regarding health-related concerns and outside agency utilization
  • Reinforce positive attendance expectations for students and communicate attendance goals to all stakeholders
  • Identify students at risk of credit loss due to excessive absences, maintain individualized case files, and communicate concerns
  • Develop individualized attendance plans for at-risk students, guiding them towards graduation goals
  • Independently address students' poor attendance, contacting parents/guardians of absent students and conducting home visits
  • Schedule on-site student and parent conferences as needed
  • Ensure student safety on and off campus
  • Ensure campus compliance with local truancy procedures, collaborating with the Principal
  • Collect and compile required data and reports on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Manage records retention for all services and activities provided to students and families
  • Participate fully in orientation, training, meetings, and other activities as required
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by program Director and/or campus Principal
