POSITION SUMMARY
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner improves the health status of our market’s medically underserved population and provide superior quality, competitive value and outstanding service and care in mental health. This position provides patient care in mental health and initiates the process for successfully integrated mental health services.
GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
PHMNP certification from an educational institution accepted by the Florida Board of Medicine.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Clear and Active Florida PHMNP License as mandated by the Florida Board of Medicine
- Board Certification
- Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license
- Current BLS/CPR Certification
- 5+ years of working experience as a Provider in Psychiatry or Mental Health services preferred
- Excellent collaboration skills required for community relationship building
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions
- Ability to design and implement clinical pathways and protocols for treatment of selected chronic mental and behavioral conditions
- Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental conditions
- Proficiency in using an Electronic Medical Record or Electronic Health Record software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for prescribing, directing, or administering psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders
- Refer patients to hospitals, order tests, prescribe medication or recommend therapy to patients based on assessment
- Analyze and evaluate patient data or test findings to diagnose nature or extent of mental disorder
- Design individualized mental health care plans, using a variety of treatments
- Review and evaluate treatment procedures and outcomes of other psychiatrists or medical professionals
- Collaborate with Behavioral Health Team, Providers and Community Resource Specialists to plan and coordinate treatment, drawing on behavioral health experience and patient needs
- Educate patients and community members about mental illness, abuse, medication, and available community resources for those in psychiatric treatment
- Maintain accurate records of treatment in the patient’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and follow up with patients in order to evaluate the effectiveness of counseling or treatments
- Perform other related duties as assigned
