Job Overview
The School-based licensed Mental Health Clinician provides mental health services to children and their families utilizing a variety of treatment modalities on-site at Satellite Clinic School location. In this role you will provide therapy, case management, linkage referrals, as needed, and maintain appropriate documentation of all services rendered. This position reports to The League Center Behavioral Health and Wellness Center’s Director and Assistant Clinical Director.
Duties
- Provides mental health services to a caseload of children/adolescents in individual, group, collateral, and family modalities
- Provide services onsite at a designated school during school hours 5-days weekly for 10-months annually
- Provide services to a caseload of 35 to 40 clients with a productivity benchmark of 32 sessions weekly.
- Provides these mental health services with an awareness of, and respect for, diversity of culture, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation. This knowledge shall be incorporated into therapeutic practice
- Accepts referrals from school social workers, guidance counselors and whomever the Principal deems appropriate and initiates contact as appropriate
- Master and utilize electronic record system (Netsmart) for all aspects of client record-keeping/charting, toward assuring all documentation is maintained in comprehensive, organized, and timely manner
- Coordinates intake evaluations: scheduling of psychiatric evaluation, writing psychosocial summary, determining initial DSM IV diagnosis, assessing need for psychiatric referral
- Writes daily progress notes, initial treatment plans, and quarterly treatment summaries for all individuals on caseload
- Develops (with clients) measurable short-term and long-term treatment goals with action plan and completion time frame on a quarterly basis
- Helps individuals on caseload (and their parents) access appropriate entitlement benefits and needed resources/concrete services
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with coworkers, school staff and community partners of the school as indicated
- Provides 24-hour emergency coverage on a rotating basis, to all current clinic patients as per program policy guidelines
- Maintains individual case records for caseload, assuring that necessary reports are in place, all documents are filed appropriately
- Completes discharge summary and completes case record documentation for those clients who discontinue services in an appropriate timeframe
- Records billable and non-billable visits/services daily
- Fulfills all documentation required by Department of Education for funding purposes
- Participates in weekly case conferences and supervision
- Participates in community-building activities sponsored by program and agency and encourages participants to support these activities
- If desired, can provide services onsite at the Consultation Center clinic or in the community when school is closed
- Follow the Board of Education calendar regarding school closings, when taking vacation or PTO
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- LMSW/LCSW from accredited graduate school of social work. Experience working with children/ adolescents and families
- At least 1-year post graduate experience required
- Bilingual Spanish, Haitian Creole or French preferred
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, including effective written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated leadership, including effective decision-making and problem-solving experience
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy school environment
- Ability to exercise initiative and manage time efficiently.
- Must be self-efficient
- Good communication and organizational skills
Hours
- 35 hours per week, flexible schedule
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
