Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Recreation Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing therapeutic recreation programs that enhance the physical, emotional, and social well-being of patients. This role is crucial in supporting individuals with various needs, including those with autism, seniors, and patients in hospice care. The Recreation Therapist will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to provide a holistic approach to patient care.
Duties
- Conduct patient assessments to determine individual needs and preferences for recreational activities.
- Develop personalized therapeutic recreation plans that align with each patient's goals.
- Facilitate engaging activities such as swimming, equine therapy, and other recreational programs tailored to diverse populations.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records related to patient progress and participation in therapy sessions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
- Utilize medical terminology effectively while communicating with healthcare staff and documenting patient interactions.
- Provide support and guidance to patients and their families regarding the benefits of recreational therapy.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, making adjustments as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy or a related field.
- Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum or in senior care settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical documentation practices and familiarity with medical records management.
- Strong skills in patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Ability to engage patients in various recreational activities, including swimming and equine therapy.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with proficiency in medical terminology.
- A compassionate approach towards patient care, demonstrating empathy and understanding of diverse needs.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
