Responsibilities
Pathways Center’s Care Campus is located in Newnan, GA and has two 24/7 Crisis Stabilization Units (CSU’s); one for adults and one for children ages 5-17. Pathways Center's Crisis Stabilization Units (CSU's) are short term (2-7 days), medically monitored crisis residential programs, which offer services for a limited duration to stabilize mental health disorders, provide detoxification services, evaluate treatment options, and develop long-term recovery/treatment plans. Pathways Center’s Care Campus is designed to serve as a first line of community-based alternative care to hospitalization, offering psychiatric stabilization and detoxification services on a short term basis. Interventions are provided by licensed behavioral health professionals designed to prevent out of community treatment or hospitalization.
In addition to Pathways Center’s Adult and Child Centers, Pathways Center’s Licensed Counselors are part of Coweta County’s emergency response program called Coweta CARES. Coweta CARES is a unique para-medicine program that is designed to address behavioral health crisis calls to 911. Coweta CARES is a team of licensed clinicians and paramedics who work collaboratively to stabilize individuals who are experiencing behavioral health crises. The goal is to reduce unnecessary hospitalization and emergency department presentations.
The individual in this role is responsible for the counseling services provided at the Pathways Center Care Campus and the Coweta CARES crisis response program. The job responsibilities for the Crisis Clinical Services Manager include but are not limited to the following:
- Provides supervision for all clinicians and any clinical student interns
- Routinely monitors and evaluates daily clinical operations and delivery of counseling services to ensure that these services are appropriate and offered in compliance with regulatory guidelines for frequency and timeliness
- Meets or exceeds defined productivity standards and key performance indicators
- Ensures that all crisis services are appropriately staffed according to service guidelines, contracts, and agreements
- Identifies and analyzes problems, deficiencies, and non-compliance within the scope of the program and is able to make recommendations or take corrective action to appropriately address them.
- Ensures that necessary reports, correspondence, documentation, administrative actions, files, and records are correctly and professionally prepared, within applicable time frames
- Serves as a member of the crisis management team, appropriately participating in team decision-making and associated activities; Participates on the performance improvement committee to review policies, develop protocols, and address performance improvement initiatives identified for the programs
- Participates in the selection and onboarding of new employees; Ensures that all new team members are properly trained and oriented to their roles and responsibilities
- Appropriately assigns and delegates work to direct reports taking into consideration factors such as available resources, staff skill set and availability, and work load
- Develops a solid working knowledge of the standards and guidelines for the delivery of counseling services across all programs and maintains a working knowledge of appropriate psychotherapeutic and counseling techniques to aid crisis stabilization and treatment compliance
- Ensures that, at a minimum annually, all group skills training materials utilized by social service technicians is approved by a licensed clinician and works collaboratively with the Director of Operations to ensure proper implementation and delivery of content
Provides clear communication to establish expectations and accountability; promotes a positive work environment in which team work is evident and provides ongoing feedback to supervisees regarding their work performance, including
- but not limited to completion of annual performance evaluations
- Identifies and addresses clinical and administrative training needs and skill deficits of staff through direct observation, review of peer audits and clinical documentation
- Establishes rapport with clients and provides direct service on a consistent basis ensuring individual productivity expectations are met
- Completes crisis intervention services, treatment planning, groups, and other behavioral health services as clinically indicated
- Intervenes in crisis situations to de-escalate a situation or to role model appropriate interventions for staff to effectively manage behaviors.
- Attends team staffing meetings to discuss treatment needs, client progress and discharge planning for individuals served in crisis programs
- Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the seamless transition of clients into and out of crisis services
- Develops a conceptual understanding of the clinical and administrative processes for service authorization and is able direct staff based on this knowledge.
- Provides training and supervision to identified staff and student interns
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with business partners and external stakeholders in the respective communities; Attends community collaborative meetings, as appropriate
- Acquires and maintains sufficient knowledge of the provider manual service guidelines, CARF standards, and standards of any other governing body
- Completes clear and concise required documentation in clients’ electronic health records (EHRs) in accordance with established policies and procedures and within specified timeframes
