An Expectant Parent Caseworker's primarily responsibility is supporting expectant parents
during the adoption process.

About Us: Creating Christian Families and Mother Goose Adoptions is a multi-state child welfare agency specializing in helping women navigate crisis pregnancies. To that end, we provide support services to expectant mothers in making a parenting or adoption plan for her child.

A Birth Parent Caseworker will frequently spend the bulk of their days in between birth parent client homes, hospitals/dr. offices, and other possible workplaces. A small portion of the job involves the reporting requirements and is done in the agency offices or your home office.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Receive intake calls from prospective birth families, counsel with birth families regarding parenting and adoption planning, grief support, completing social assessments, maintaining case files, participation in community education, discharge of infant from hospital and placement with prospective adoptive parents, working with hospital staff, OB staff, DCS, and Health Department Staff, updating and guiding prospective adoptive families,

You will need to be available to meet the needs of your client and agency and must be willing to be on call for clients (which will include occasionally working nights, weekends and holidays, when babies are born or when emergencies arise). The majority of the hours are worked between 12-7 pm.

Must be willing to travel to meet with clients. Most clients are in the Metro Phoenix area, with occasional clients in outlying areas throughout the state. This is a part time to part time plus position. Hours vary week to week based on the number of clients you are working with but the hours of 12-7 are when the person fulfilling this position must be available. This position will not work well as “additional income” if you are already working another full-time position. This position would need to be the main focus/job but can supplement another part time very flexible job.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills:
· Proficient in diagnosing, assessing and evaluating the maturity, strengths, functional levels, and readiness of adoptive and birth parents preparing for adoption.

· Knowledge of casework and group work concepts and processes, and the skill in utilizing both methods effectively.

· Ability to analyze situations accurately and to adopt and execute effective courses of action.

· Ability to relate, with a positive, warm and friendly manner to persons of any economic, educational or social level and to persons of any racial, ethnic or cultural background.

· Ability to secure appropriate support services for adoptive parents, birth parents and child.

· Familiar with AZ licensing and adoption standards and instructions along with the ability to interpret and apply them correctly (or the ability to learn).

· Ability to speak and write effectively.

Education/Experience Requirements:
A successful candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in a social service field, such as psychology, sociology, social work, or other similar discipline. We also prefer at least three to five years of hands-on casework experience in child welfare or similar industry.

Prefer a candidate that has done direct work with marginalized populations in the past including those with addictions, homelessness, mental illness etc.

Additional Requirements:
Licensed, insured, reliable vehicle available for daily work

Ability to obtain clear state and federal background checks/clearances
