Peer Support Specialist – Recovery Center

Are you passionate about helping others through their recovery journey? SeaView Community Services is seeking a dedicated Peer Support Specialist to join our Recovery Center team in beautiful Seward, Alaska—a community surrounded by mountains and ocean, where your work can truly make a difference.

As a Peer Support Specialist, you will use your lived experience with substance use recovery to provide hope, encouragement, and guidance to individuals navigating similar challenges. You’ll be part of a compassionate, multidisciplinary team committed to person-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide peer-to-peer support to clients in our 3.5 Residential, PHP, and Recovery Housing programs.

  • Share personal experiences of recovery to inspire hope and model healthy behavior and coping skills.

  • Support clients in developing recovery goals, building social connections, and accessing community resources.

  • Facilitate recovery groups and activities.

  • Document services in compliance with agency and grant standards.

Qualifications

  • Self-identify as a person with lived experience in recovery.

  • Current Peer Support Certification or ability to obtain upon hire (training will be provided).

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and maintain healthy boundaries.

  • Strong communication and active listening skills.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
