Position Details
Phoenix Counseling, a program of Addictions Recovery Center, Inc. (ARC), provides comprehensive outpatient substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health services in Phoenix, OR. Our mission is to support individuals, families, and youth in finding hope, healing, and long-term recovery through trauma-informed, person-centered care. We are looking for a Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) or Peer Support Specialist (PSS) who is passionate about walking beside others on their journey to recovery. Whether your experience comes from personal recovery or supporting a loved one, your insight can light the way for others.
This position combines peer mentorship with recovery coordination, offering compassionate support to individuals and families impacted by substance use and mental health challenges. The Certified Recovery Mentor / Peer Support Specialist serves as a trusted guide, using lived experience to foster hope, reduce stigma, and help clients feel seen and supported. By bridging the gap between treatment services and personal recovery, this role plays a critical part in empowering clients to build stability, resilience, and lasting change.

Duties will include but not be limited to:
Client Engagement & Peer Support
- Build trust with clients through shared lived experience and compassionate support.
- Offer motivation and understanding during challenging points in recovery.
- Support clients and families in understanding recovery principles, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Encourage connection with recovery groups, wellness workshops, and community activities.
- Provide advocacy and serve as a positive role model for healthy communication and problem-solving.
Case Coordination & Program Support
- Assist clients in accessing housing, healthcare, employment, and community services.
- Maintain a peer caseload with consistent one-on-one mentorship and group support.
- Collaborate with clinical staff and community partners to coordinate individualized recovery plans.
- Document all services accurately, including billable peer support hours.
Community & Team Collaboration
- Actively participate in staffings, team meetings, and case reviews.
- Serve as a liaison with social service agencies, treatment providers, and recovery networks.
- Represent peer recovery values within Phoenix Counseling and the broader community.
- Promote peer-led initiatives and participate in outreach as needed.

Requirements:
Education, Credentials and Skills should include:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) or Peer Support Specialist (PSS) certification.
- Minimum 2 years of sustained recovery experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a trauma-informed, client-centered approach.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Effective crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (preferred).
- Commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and professional boundaries.
- Experience in client admissions, intake coordination, or case management in a healthcare or behavioral health setting (preferred).
Compensation and benefits include:
- Most ARC employees are scheduled four-days a week to support their ability to maintain a healthy work and life balance; medical and sobering positions are scheduled to work three days a week
- Starting wage ranging from $26.57 to $30.56 hourly, depending on credentials, skills, and experience
- Three (3) to six (6) weeks of Vacation accrued per year, based upon years of service
- Sick time is accrued for all employees based on regularly scheduled hours
- Ten (10) Paid Holidays each year: New Year’s, MLK Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.
