DESCRIPTION:

The Admissions Counselor role at Trocaire College plays an integral role in changing the lives of the students which we serve, by being the first impression to the college. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting and providing counseling services to prospective students, reviewing and offering decisions for admissions applications, and assisting in the daily operation of the Admissions Office.


QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelors required

· Master's Degree preferred in Student Personnel Services, Education, Occupational/Career Education or related field.

· 1+ years of experience in higher education or sales, with an emphasis on providing high quality customer service.


JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

· Must be competent in Microsoft Office [Word, Excel, Outlook], internet access, and customer services skills.

· Experience with running various platforms and applications to obtain data that drives daily activity, in an effort to meet college enrollment goals.

· Ability to read and understand transcripts and have a general understanding of how to use Excel to calculate a grade point average (GPA). Arithmetic and basic algebra skills are required.

· Experience with customer relationship management systems and student information systems (CAMS or other) is desirable.

· Position requires good communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills to work with students, parents, staff, secondary school, community colleges, healthcare industry providers and additional external constituents.

· Ability to think critically and problem solve with student success at top of mind.

· Public speaking and good telephone skills are recommended.

· Self-motivated, self-starter, data-driven, and goal-oriented, with ability to multi-task.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Recruitment of prospective students and timely file management from application to enrollment

· Coordination of prospective student activities virtually and on-campus

· Advisement of prospective students on program admission requirements

· Enter data and review files for completion; make data-driven decisions

· Create and maintain travel schedule focusing on recruitment of prospective students through high schools, community colleges, healthcare facilities and community partners

· Collaborate with other campus offices to cultivate student success best practices

· Attend recruitment visits, participate in informational sessions and host groups of prospective students visiting the College

· Prepare correspondence and material for recruitment as well as serves on committees as needed

· A commitment to enriching the lives of students by promoting a positive learning environment; enhancing the quality of the student experience; and philosophically supporting programs and policies that facilitate student success.

· Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Admissions.


POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment in close proximity to other employees

· Must maintain a current NYS Driver's License and automobile.

· Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.

· Minimal physical effort is required. The employee must be able to operate personal computer and related equipment.

· Travel may be required for making public presentations and for attendance at regional or central meetings and conferences. Employee must be able to drive a private passenger automobile or to arrange for alternative transportation. Reasonable accommodation will be provided for employees with physical limitations.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision.

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
