An exciting physician leadership opportunity awaits in VISN 23 with the VA Central Iowa Healthcare System! The VA Central Iowa Health Care | Veterans Affairs has an opening for a Psychiatrist. Please note this position is not Virtual/Remote. Selectee will be required to relocate to Des Moines, IA and work out of the Central Iowa VA Health Care System. POSITION DETAILS: The VA Central Iowa Health Care System is recruiting for a full time, permanent Psychiatrist located in Des Moines, IA. RECRUITMENT INCENTIVE AUTHORIZED AND EDRP ELIGIBLE.    The Psychiatrist will provide direct clinical services within the Mental Health Service Line as well as being a resource to other Service Lines within VA Central Iowa Health Care System. The provider in this role will provide services to Veterans seen within the Outpatient Clinic in Des Moines (either in-person or through tele-mental health to our Community Based Outpatient Clinics or to patients in their home) or on the inpatient unit, including call duties as scheduled by the Medical Director of the MHSL be needed to provide services to other areas of the Mental Health Service Line on an as needed basis.  EDRP Authorized: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Federal Retirement Plan: VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS-FRAE basic benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan How is the pension funded? VA employees hired after January 1, 2014 automatically contribute 4.4% of their salary each pay period and the VA contributes 8.3% of the employee's salary each pay period for a total annual contribution percentage equal to 12.7% of the employee's salary Similar to the 401(k) savings plans widely available in the private sector, the TSP allows employees to tax defer a portion of their income each year, subject to the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service.
