About Job

Operation Kindness is seeking a Full-time Adoption Counselor (Client Services Rep) to join our team! Operation Kindness is a pioneer in Texas for assisting animals in need of veterinary care, companionship and most of all, a home.

The Schedule is Saturday through Tuesday from 8:30am – 7:30pm

We provide a fun and rewarding work environment with excellent benefits. Spanish speaker a plus! Hourly employees receive time and a half pay if scheduled to work on 10 company designated holidays.

Position Responsibilities

  • Providing service for walk-in customers
  • Greets each customer promptly and pleasantly
  • Thoroughly explains application and adoption process
  • Reviews and verifies animal adoption questionnaire for accuracy and completeness
  • Provides customers with kennel passes while providing necessary instruction and information
  • Continually observes lobby area and ensures all customer needs are met
  • Answers telephones in front lobby area
  • Checks voicemail and email and responds to or relays messages accordingly
  • Ensures front desk and education room is neat and organized
  • Ensures ample copies of required forms are readily available
  • Files applications and other necessary forms
  • Counseling and showing animals
  • Helps make successful matches for adopter and pet
  • Shows and handles dogs and cats of all ages and sizes to potential adopters
  • Takes dogs of all sizes from cages and runs to designated area for purpose of introducing to potential adopters
  • Maintains safe and responsible control of animals at all times
  • Adoption/contract process
  • Completely reviews adoption documents with adopter
  • Enters all adoptions into Petpoint adoption software
  • Explains medical records and other pertinent pet information to adopter
  • Cleaning
  • Thoroughly cleans restrooms
  • Empties lobby and education room trash receptacles
  • Sweeps and mops lobby floor
  • Dusts and cleans all surfaces in lobby and education room
  • Vacuums area rugs
  • Cleans windows
  • Other duties as assigned, including assisting Off-site Adoptions programs

Position Requirements

  • Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven ability to speak, read and write English fluently
  • Spanish speak preferred
  • Minimum 6 months previous experience in Customer Service role or 3 months with significant animal care work experience
  • Basic computer knowledge (Internet, Microsoft Office)
  • Experience working with animals or significant pet knowledge strongly preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

  • Feels and expresses a genuine liking for animals and working in an animal care environment
  • Physical Requirements
  • Requires occasional lifting and carrying animals and shelter materials weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires frequent walking and handling of dogs and cats of a variety of sizes and temperaments.
  • Requires frequent and extended periods of standing and walking.
  • May be exposed to unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches and animal diseases.
