About Job

Position Summary: The Counselor is responsible for gathering data, documenting problems and establishing course of treatment. Provides direct addiction treatment services to adult patients and family members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties as assigned:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to patients assigned to caseload.
  • Direct training groups and seminars. Provide therapeutic leadership in group counseling sessions.
  • Function as a liaison with other community-based agencies and law enforcement agencies to ensure continuity of treatment (referrals) and compliance with legal obligations.
  • Complete comprehensive clinical assessments of new patients, including all required forms that require the new patient’s signature. The counselor is responsible for the accuracy and completion of the assessment process.
  • Develop Individual Treatment Plans (ITP) for new patients within the established time frame of patient admission, completed with the patient’s input and verified by the patient’s signature.
  • Update new patient charts within established time frames, ensuring they are current within 30 days. Treatment plans must reflect current problems/goals articulated in the words of the person served.
  • Work with medical staff in securing urine samples for monthly urinalysis and document results in the patient’s chart and in the Methasoft program.
  • Actively participate in Diversion Control through execution of random bottle recalls.
  • Provide necessary forms to the Medical Director, properly and accurately completed, for special requests related to medications.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality is protected by properly completing release of information for all outside referrals and contacts.
  • Maintain compliance with DHHS regulations and Treatment Centers, LLC Policy and Procedure Manual regarding patient files, ensuring protection from unauthorized access.
  • Complete discharge forms within the specified time frame from the date of discharge and submit to the Program Director.
  • Contribute to ongoing assessment and treatment planning through participation in daily reports, case reviews, and treatment teams.
  • Provide patient education relating to chemical dependency and the recovery process.
  • Offer supportive counseling or crisis intervention services as necessary.
  • Provide education and public information services regarding opioid treatment programs.
  • Participate in professional development and maintain professional credentials as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist.
  • Engage in Continuing Quality Improvement and report on assigned CQI monitors.
  • Complete and maintain charts in compliance with third-party billing requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Job Standards/Minimum Qualifications: Must have a Master’s degree in a human services field, LCAS or LCAS-A. Must have a valid driver’s license or state-issued ID.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent sitting at a desk or computer while typing, completing paperwork, or meeting with patients.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying of paperwork, files, and office supplies, up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasional push/pull exerting up to 5-10 lbs. of force, opening doors, file drawers, and pushing files in drawers.
  • Occasional kneeling/crouching and/or ability to reach lower file drawers, stretching to store or retrieve materials.

Mental Requirements: This position requires constant mental alertness, attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy in completing all assignments. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and follow through on all assignments.
