About Job

Summary You will serve as a SOCIAL WORKER (FAMILY ADVOCACY PROGRAM) in the Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) of NAVSUBASE KINGSBAY. Responsibilities You will brief management to provide status, updates, or other business information regarding social services studies or research. You will coordinate with other activities for case support, resolution, and final disposition. You will perform services (e.g., safety planning, case management, treatment, education services) related to child abuse and spouse abuse. You will identify crisis situations (e.g., suicide, family violence, abuse) to provide intervention to correct the situation. You will document clientele counseling sessions to comply with regulations on case management. You will work with Supervisor on resolving difficult clinical cases. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing a short term solution to focus on the psychological and counseling needs of the clients in crisis situations; 2) Counseling mental health patients on domestic violence, child abuse or neglect, marriage and family discord, or crisis intervention and therapy; 3) Performing services (e.g., safety planning, case management, treatment, education services) related to child abuse and spouse abuse; and 4) Conduct clinical assessment to identify crisis situations (e.g., suicide, homicide risk, danger of physical or sexual abuse to family members, risk of family violence, recent sexual assault). Additional Information (Continued): This position is a TIER THREE clinical care practitioner with clinical supervisor eligibility. Applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements as outlined in SECNAVINST 1754.8: 1. Possess at least a masters or doctoral degree in one of the following disciplines: a. Master's degree from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) or an equivalent degree, OR b. Master's degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) or an equivalent degree, OR c. Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) or an equivalent degree, OR d. Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university or professional school and a one-year APA accredited clinical internship 2. State or U.S. territory license or certification that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner in the fields of Licensed Professional Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology. 3. When the state or U.S. territory licensing or certification requirements include a written examination, candidates for privileging, must have achieved a passing score on that examination. 4. Must have engaged in two years, full-time, post-masters supervised clinical experience AND have two years, full-time clinical experience post independent licensure or certification. Education Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Basic education requirements for the GS-0101, Professional Social Science Series. Have successfully completed a behavioral or social science degree, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position being filled. OR Have a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Have successfully completed a degree with a major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations. OR Have successfully completed all the requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. OR Have successfully completed 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or successfully completed all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology in an accredited educational institution. Successfully completed a degree with a major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below: Clinical psychology: Satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required. Counseling psychology: Satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology is required. https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0100/psychology-series-0180/ Basic education requirements for the GS-0185, Professional Social Work Series. Have successfully completed a degree in social work that fulfills all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
