Job Description/House Manager

Position Title: House Manager
Position Summary: Provides tasks necessary to provide a safe living environment, including development and implementation of staffing solutions to comply with legal regulations and company procedures. Responsibilities include identifying caregiving and staffing needs, recruiting, hiring and managing performance of caregiver staff, creating work schedules for caregiving staff, establishing and maintaining contractual agreements with caregiving staffing agencies, ensuring all shifts are filled with qualified caregivers, and performing caregiving as needed . The House Manager will also be responsible for inventorying house supplies and ordering of new supplies.
Reports To: Program Director
Responsibilities: The House Manager will be responsible for the following duties at both Aspen Valley 1 and Aspen Valley Fox Crest.
- Scheduling monthly of CMTS, L1MAS, and Care Providers (collectively referred to as Caregivers and Staff) for both Aspen Valley 1 and Aspen Valley Fox Crest
- Taking and documenting all calls from staff regarding staffing scheduling needs (i.e. call-ins, late start, rescheduling of shifts, etc)
- Ensuring all caregiving staff positions are filled first as needed, with first priority given to caregiving staff.
- Filling a shift if it cannot be filled by existing staff or agency staff
- Develop and ensure completion of individual service plan for all residents
- Establishing and maintaining a pool of support staff for on-call responsibilities
- Establishing guidelines for rotation of on-call with support staff
- Preceptor for all new staff for orientation of house related tasks for both day and night shifts
- In coordination with Director of Nursing (DON), inventories house supplies weekly or more frequently as needed
- In coordination with DON, orders house supplies monthly, weekly, and/or as needed
- Oversees housekeeping and office supply budget
- Communication with Director for purchases that would be outside of normal housekeeping and office supplies
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Qualifications:
- Experience in managing staff scheduling in a senior care environment, including the challenges that can arise such as unexpected shift call-ins. Effective problem solving skills in this setting is critically important.
- Demonstrate leadership abilities and effective supervisory skills with the ability to direct the work of others.
- Desire to work with the elderly in an environment that upholds their privacy, dignity, choice, independence, and individuality.
- Maintains a positive, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude.
- Ability to recognize and address problems proactively and appropriately.
- Good communication skills and the ability to relate to the public, residents, families, staff, and other professionals appropriately.
- Ability to maintain or supervise the maintenance of accurate records and provide information as requested and/or required.
- Knowledge of and ability to ensure the home conforms to all applicable laws, rules, and regulations and Aspen Valley policies and procedures.
- Ability to work independently with little direct supervision, yet respond well to direction and guidance.
- Knowledge of the requirements for providing care and supervision appropriate for elderly residents.
- Good character and a continuing reputation of personal integrity.
Education and Experience:
- Although not required, nursing qualifications (licensed RN or LPN) would be welcome.
- At least one year of experience working with the elderly or in a long term care/ home health setting.
Staffing Requirements Prior to Employment:
- Free of communicable disease.
- Physically and mentally able to perform tasks, as verified by a health screening.
- TB Testing.
- Background check completed.
- Current First-Aid certification.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Complete facility provided orientation classes.
- Complete facility provided dementia training classes.
- Meds administration certification (CMT or L1MAS) is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
