Job Overview:
Northwest Allen County Schools (NACS) in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a licensed school-based Social Worker to join our team. As a school-based Social Worker, you will provide comprehensive school social work services to parents, students and school staff promoting a safe and healthy learning environment. Services will include addressing and resolving barriers that limit students from receiving full benefit from their educational experience, by providing direct services and by assisting families in accessing community resources. This position serves with two other licensed Social Workers in the district.

Essential Duties:
1) Work with building teams to identify students who are in need of emotional support and identify additional supportive services in school.

2) Collaborate with families in connecting them with community resources and services as needed.

3) Serve on Student Support Teams across the district to identify students at risk socially, emotionally, or academically.

4) Serve as a consultant and liaison between child welfare agencies, community agencies and the district.

5) Conduct home visits to investigate cases of educational neglect or to gather information related to psychosocial assessments.

6) Develop needs assessments to support students, families, and staff.

7) Train staff on recognizing and reporting child abuse, suicide prevention, and bullying as defined by Indiana statute.

8) Provide individual and/or group counseling in response to school-wide crises.

9) Conduct parent conferences to resolve attendance and/or social service issues in collaboration with building principals and guidance counselors.

10) Report suspected child abuse in collaboration with building principals and guidance counselors.

11) Articulate the function of a school social worker to various stakeholders through verbal and written communication.

12) Provide staff training on whole child development, mental health and child welfare matters as requested by administration and staff.

Qualifications:
-Master's Degree in Social Work with an Indiana State Licensure in Social Work (LSW).

- If the selected candidate is not a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, clinical supervision will be provided by the NACS District Social Worker who holds an LCSW.

- This position follows the school calendar, and is considered full time for 194 days per year.

- Must have a valid driver's license in order to travel to homes to conduct home visits.

- A person in this position will be required to serve multiple buildings.
