JOB TITLE: Lead Registered Behavior Technician

POSITION STATUS: Full time (40 hours/week), Hourly

POSITION LOCATION: Peoria Service Center, 507 E. Armstrong Ave., Peoria, IL 61603

SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm

Position Objective: The Lead Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) functions primarily as a behavior technician by providing direct serves to ABA clients, with additional responsibility of completing onboarding and training as well at supplemental supervision to other R/BTs within the department. The Lead RBT uses the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis within a family-centered approach to carry out programs and activities designed to improve the lives of children and their families.

This three-year accreditation highlights Easterseals Central Illinois as the leading provider of Autism Services and Applied Behavior Analysis in downstate Illinois. Only two organizations in Illinois now hold this level of accreditation!

Job Functions:

  • Plans, creates, and implements themed activities for the ABA classroom.
  • Completes BST model training with new BTs as outlined in onboarding procedures.
  • Completes supplemental RBT training as requested by BCBA/Apprentices and/or RBTs.
  • Provides ongoing supplemental training, secondary to BCBA/Apprentice’s initial trainings (including programming, procedures and implementation, and data collection).
  • Monitors fidelity of ABA services and general practices under the direction of the BCBA.
  • Communicates feedback and improvement strategies (i.e., modeling, role play, etc.) with RBT following a fidelity check.

Marginal Responsibilities:

  • In absence of BCBA/Apprentice, follows coverage procedures approved by BCBA.
  • Assists RBTs with Credentialing exam as requested by RBT candidate.
  • Updates staff training binder as necessary.
  • Makes visual supports and charts as needed.
  • Creates grocery list each week for ABA Services.
  • Answers programming questions when BCBA is not available and communicates with the BCBA regarding questions that come up during client sessions.
  • Participates in interviews for RBT vacancies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience working directly with children, preferred.
  • Must be certified as a Registered Behavior Technician through the BACB.

Competency Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-energy environment while effectively multitasking.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion pertaining to the work environment and maintain all HIPAA requirements.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to learn the organization’s computer processing software and Electronic Medical Record software.
  • A commitment to the values of the organization while demonstrating good judgment, flexibility, patience, and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Sensitive to working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population.
  • Adequate knowledge of applied behavior analysis and behavioral intervention techniques.
  • Ability to publicly present information about Easterseals’ Autism and Behavioral services.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and software (MS Office Suite).

  • Requires alertness to respond to audio and visual cues from clients, other staff members, the environment, and standard office machines and equipment.
  • Ability to calmly handle and intervene as necessary during behavioral and health-related incidents.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, and schedules.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time, standing for up to 6-8 hours a day.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and twisting in order to observe, assess, and interact with clients.
  • Ability to utilize a computer, telephone, tablet, and copy machine.
  • Frequent proofreading and checking documents for accuracy.
  • Ability to physically implement behavior management strategies including responding to physically aggressive behavior.
  • Visual and auditory ability to work with clients, staff, and others in the workplace continuously.
  • Ability to drive to all Easterseals centers and service sites within a 100-mile radius, as needed.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, and loading/unloading toys and materials up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Routinely works in office environments with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature.
  • Community Settings for meetings and direct service activities.
  • Client homes for direct service activities.
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain criminal record clearance.
  • Must have a valid Illinois Driver's License and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain QBS Safety-Care training certification.
  • Ability to maintain active RBT certification status.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a National Provider Identifier (NPI).
