Job Duties

Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

ESH is seeking MOONLIGHTING PHYSICIANS to serve as the Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) to provide onsite medical and psychiatric coverage at the facility on weeknights, weekends, and holidays. This is a great opportunity for current residents looking to augment their income and gain experience practicing at an acute, adult inpatient psychiatric facility!

The MOD is responsible for all patient related issues that arise after hours including, but not limited to, the following: admissions, referral to and/or return from special hospitalizations, assessment and management of medical emergencies and medical urgencies, assessment and management of psychiatric emergencies, and discharges/transfers to other psychiatric facilities.

HOURLY RATES:

Board Eligible Physician-$90/hour

Board Certified Physician-$95/hour

MOD SCHEDULE:

Monday-Friday: 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM

Weekends: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM

Holidays: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM

Minimum Qualifications

* Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree.

* Completion or enrollment in an accredited/approved psychiatry residency training program.

* Licensed to practice Medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

* Valid DEA Registration.

Additional Considerations

* Experience with acute, adult inpatient population is preferred.
