About Job

Position Summary

This role provides direct mental health treatment services to individuals under the care of the Wisconsin DOC
Direct services may include, but are not limited to: clinical monitoring of mental health symptoms, intake assessments, psychological assessments, individual and group therapy, risk management, and crisis intervention.

This position provides consultation services to the multidisciplinary staff who are involved in the care and treatment of the individuals, including medical providers, security, probation and parole, social worker, and more.

This position provides staff development and training related to mental health and will provide on-call emergency services as assigned.

For those interested, training opportunities, including CEU certificates, are available to maintain, further develop and refine clinical skills.

Psychological Associates will perform the duties above under the direction and supervision of a licensed psychologist
The Wisconsin Department of Corrections provides the required supervision for post-doctorate licensing.

Psychologist Licensed positions may provide clinical supervision to interns in professional psychology consistent with American Psychological Association (APA) and Association of Psychology Post-Doctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) internship standards or may assist in providing clinical supervision to unlicensed staff seeking licensure in Wisconsin.

Salary Information

Psychological Associate is in pay schedule and range 12-63 and offers base pay starting from $41.54/hour.

Psychologist-Licensed is in pay schedule and range 12-60 and offers base pay starting from $49.06/hour
(Combining the base rate with the doctoral and permanent licensure add-ons below would create an effective rate of $60.06/hr or $124,924/year for Psychologist-Licensed.)

Additional Pay:

Employees hired into either classification who are in possession of a Doctorate of Psychology (or equivalent) may be eligible for supplemental pay of an additional $6.00 per hour.

Psychological Associates in possession of an Interim Psychologist License may be eligible for supplemental pay of an additional $3.00 per hour
(This add-on is replaced by the add-on below when permanent licensure is gained.)

Employees who have a permanent Wisconsin Psychologist License may be eligible for supplemental pay of an additional $5.00 per hour.

Candidates with no prior permanent employment with the State of Wisconsin in the past 5 years may be eligible to accept a sign-on bonus of $2,000
The sign-on bonus will be paid in two installments: $1000 on the first paycheck and $1000 with the paycheck for the pay period in which the employee attains permanent status (usually 1 year)
(UW System employment isn't disqualifying.)

To receive the bonus, a candidate must sign an agreement indicating they will remain in that position for a year
If the candidate leaves their position prior to completing the one year, they may be required to reimburse the initial payment.

Pay rates on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code.

Schedules and the availability of remote work will vary between recruiting locations, but most frequently this position will normally be on site and may allow occasional remote work

A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e
a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S
without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection
Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens

Qualifications

This recruitment will be used to fill Psychology vacancies as they occur.

Some positions require a license or a Doctoral Degree in Psychology, and others can be filled by individuals in possession of a Master's Degree who meet the criteria below.

To Fill a Position Requiring a Master's Degree:

* Qualified candidates must possess a Master's degree in Psychology or a related clinical treatment field from a regionally accredited university, college or professional school.
* Qualified candidates must have completed at least 3000 total hours of supervised clinical experience, including at least 1000 hours of face-to-face client contact after receiving the Master's Degree.

To Fill a Position Requiring a Doctorate in Psychology:

* Qualified candidates must possess a Doctoral degree in Psychology (or equivalent) from a regionally accredited university, college or professional school OR be within four months of completing all requirements for a Doctoral degree (except for dissertation) from a regionally accredited university, college or professional school.
* Qualified candidates must have experience in treatment and assessment of mental disorders as defined by the current version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)
* Qualified candidates must have completed a formal doctoral internship with at least 1500 hours of clinical experience supervised by a licensed psychologist.

To Fill a Position Requiring a Psychology License :

* Qualified candidates must possess a current Psychologist license granted by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services or be licensed in another state
If licensed in another state, you must obtain your Wisconsin license by date of appointment.

For all levels, qualified applicants will also benefit from experience:

* Performing evidence-based treatment of mental illness as defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
* Using techniques of measurement, testing and psychological assessment (doctoral candidates).
* Performing psychological consultation and diagnosis.
* Applying methods of scientific inquiry and research, including research design, statistical analysis and the preparation of research reports.
* Analyzing and integrating assessment information and communicating such in written psychological reports.
