The contract information is as follows: One (1) Year, 188 days per year with a salary from $59,059 - $72,523 plus longevity and training credit.

Title: SOCIAL WORKER

Reports to: Director of Student Services

Job Objectives: Provides prevention/intervention and counseling support to promote social and emotional growth in students.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Ohio license appropriate for the assignment: Ohio Department of Education School Social Worker License; Licensed Social Worker; Licensed Independent Social Worker; Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor; or Licensed Professional Counselor
  • Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test, etc.).
  • Documented evidence of a clear criminal record.
  • Demonstrates the ability to organize community support for prevention activities.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
The following duties are representative of performance expectations. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.
  • Conducts individual and/or group counseling sessions.
  • Communicates effectively with school personnel, parents, and other concerned persons.
  • Works collaboratively with school and community staff and families to promote student success.
  • Determines appropriate counseling procedures and techniques to be applied.
  • Helps students examine their abilities, achievement, and interests focusing on the student’s social, emotional, intellectual, and physical characteristics that influence the learning process.
  • Identifies school and community resources.
  • Follows policies and procedures for student referrals, release of student information, and receipt of information from external agencies.
  • Builds professional relationships with colleagues to share knowledge and resources.
  • Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.
  • Maintains accurate records and submits reports on time.
  • Implements effective classroom management procedures. Maintains high standards for student conduct. Upholds student conduct code.
  • Takes part in professional activities, faculty meetings, in-service meetings, and parent conferences as appropriate.
  • Upholds confidentiality following state and district guidelines.
  • Provides transportation as needed to client appointments and meetings.
  • Promote a favorable image of the school district. Encourages community partnerships that enhance district programs and services.
  • Coordinates and facilitates community resources for students and their families.
  • Uphold employee code of conduct.
  • Communicates high expectations and shows an active interest in student progress.
  • Accepts responsibility for personal decisions and conduct. Serves as a positive role model for others.
  • Consults parents as needed (e.g. telephone calls, conferences, etc.)
  • Works with community services associated with students’ programs (e.g. law enforcement, health care facilities, child welfare services, etc.)
  • Conducts group sessions as needed to address student concerns (e.g., grief, socialization, personal behaviors, conflict mediation, etc.)
  • Provide professional development sessions and training for staff.
  • Helps staff address student concerns (e.g., excessive absences, at-risk behavior, mental/physical health, family/peer relations, etc.)
  • Participates in student assistance team meetings. Works with the team to reach a consensus on identified student.
  • Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
  • Participates in professional growth opportunities to remain current with innovative counseling strategies.
  • Take precautions to ensure student safety. Does not leave students unsupervised.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Student Services.

Working Conditions:
