Griffin School is seeking an energetic, positive, organized, effective, experienced, and skilled person to develop the college preparatory and college guidance program at Griffin School. College counseling experience is required. People from under-represented communities are encouraged to apply.
Key roles include:
- College Counseling
- Academic advising for all students
- Working intensively with seniors in the fall semester and juniors in the spring semester to guide and support the college application process
- Working with 9th and 10th graders through periodic meetings to provide direction for long-term development of interests and skills that lead to college preparation.
- Working with parents of all students to inform and support their role in the college preparation and college application process.
- Leading the Skills Workshop department, developing curriculum and managing staffing
- Maintain, build, and develop relationships with college admissions counselors and other contacts at colleges
- Manage databases and college admissions accounts in SCOIR, Common App, and other related programs.
- Provide proactive communications to all members of the Griffin School community about college guidance and admissions through various forums and using diverse media including social media, website, email communications, admissions events, school community events, and other communications
- Standardized testing coordination for the PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP tests. Collaboration with the Student Support Specialist to coordinate special testing accommodations for students.
- Graduation planning in collaboration with the Academic Director.
- Working with the Admissions program to recruit intellectually curious, compassionate, and engaged students who can contribute to the culture and diversity of our school community.
- Working proactively as a member of the school’s administrative team to support all students, staff, parents, and community members. Supporting the “life of the school” by facilitating, leading, and participating in school events and other activities.
- Sponsoring one governance or leadership committee such as National Honor Society.
- Willingness to be involved in school programming in order to be integrated into the school culture and build relationships with students across the student body.
