Introduction
Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) within the Department of Health Services (DHS) is recruiting to fill a Social Worker – Senior vacancy in Mauston, WI. This position will work primarily 7:45 am - 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday.
SRSTC opened in 2001 and houses Wisconsin's Sexually Violent Persons Program. The goal of the center is treating and teaching patients with a history of sexual aggression toward the goal of providing a safe return to the community. SRSTC is a 500-bed treatment facility and is part of the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS). Watch this video to learn more about the work of DCTS.

Position Summary
SRSTC provides treatment services to approximately 210 adult male sexual offenders who have been civilly committed or who are awaiting commitment under Wis. Stat. Ch. 980. The institution also serves approximately 60 patients who are deemed not guilty by mental disease or defect, under Wis. Stat. Ch. 971.
As a Social Worker at SRSTC, you will serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for providing professional social work services to clients admitted to SRSTC. Primary responsibilities include providing case management services for patients. This includes admission, filing conditional release petitions, and providing support services and psychoeducation to patients, families, and the community.
Salary Information
The starting salary is between $30.47 - $35.80 per hour ($63,300-$74,400 annually) depending on qualifications. A 12-month probationary period is required.
The pay schedule and range is 12/63. Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility after their start date.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have:
- Licensure or eligible for licensure as a Social Worker in the State of Wisconsin. Eligible is defined as: you currently hold licensure in another state and are eligible to obtain licensure in the State of Wisconsin. Must obtain licensure within 6 months of the start date.
Well-qualified applicants will also have:
- Experience working in a secured setting (e.g., psychiatric hospital, correctional facility, treatment facility, etc.).
- Experience providing case management services such as treatment planning and release planning.
- Training and/or experience with motivational interviewing.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
